About

A public lecture held in person and online, exploring how social media has reshaped politics around the world. It is hosted by the Department of Management, with speaker Professor Ekaterina Zhuravskaya and chair Professor Sarah Ashwin. Drawing on over a decade of research, the talk examines how mobile broadband, algorithmic feeds and social media have contributed to declining trust in political elites, the erosion of incumbent parties, the growth of anti-establishment movements on the extreme right, and new forms of protest. Evidence is drawn from Europe, the United States and beyond.
