Nicolas Meier World Group: jazz meets Turkish and flamenco.

Nicolas Meier World Group brings a lunchtime concert to the Culford Room at Cadogan Hall. Guitarist Nicolas Meier leads the band with Demi Garcia Sabat on percussion, Alex Hutton on piano, Richard Jones on violin and Paul Michael on bass, performing music from their new album, Elysian Drift. Meier's guitar playing blends jazz, Turkish idioms, metal, classical and flamenco, using quarter-tone scales on his fretless guitar and the glissentar, an 11-string fretless guitar based on the oud. His playing caught the attention of Jeff Beck, who invited him into his band for three world tours.
