Nu Earth Groove ft. Dance Against Deportations
The Jago Dalston, Kingsland Road 440, E8 4AA London, Dalston
£5–20
About
Nu Earth Groove is a club night at The Jago built around an eight-piece house band of London underground musicians playing global, urban, jazz-funk liberation music, almost entirely improvised and heavy on brass, bass and drums. The night opens with community discussions on how to build a better society, then moves through a meditative 'Nu Earth Soul' set into high-energy 'Nu Earth Groove' sounds, before DJs from Dance Against Deportations close with joy and rage. Built hand in hand with grassroots organisers and creatives, it is designed as a meeting point for collective liberation work, with speakers sharing how to get involved in community work throughout the night. Inspired by Steamdown, Sons Of Kemet and Sarathy Korwar, expect rhythms from Afrika, Asia and Latin Amerika.
