About
A special thanksgiving service at Southwark Cathedral marking 100 years since the Order of the Holy Paraclete arrived in Ghana. The service is organised by the Union of Old St Monicans UK, a registered charity of former students. It celebrates the achievements of the Anglican nuns from Whitby, North Yorkshire, who came at the invitation of Bishop Right Reverend John Orfeur Aglionby to establish education for girls in the then Gold Coast. The nuns, committed to education, health care and spiritual guidance, founded seven institutions, including St Monica's Secondary School.
