Physics Colloquium: From Curiosity to Breakthrough: Unlocking the nano world of colloidal quantum dots
About
A Department of Physics colloquium entitled "From Curiosity to Breakthrough: Unlocking the nano world of colloidal quantum dots", open to all. The speaker is Professor Moungi Bawendi of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), winner of the 2023 Nobel Prize for chemistry for his work on quantum dots, tiny particles whose unusual quantum properties depend on their size. He revolutionized the chemical production of quantum dots in 1993, and they now light up computer monitors and TV screens and help doctors map biological tissue. The lecture is followed by refreshments in the Level 8 Common Room of the Blackett Building.
