About

A public lecture titled 'Seeing signalling: cells, receptors, and metabolism' taking place in Lecture theatre 200 of the City and Guilds Building on Imperial College London's South Kensington Campus. It is part of the Imperial Inaugurals series, term-time lectures celebrating the university's newest Professors, and is open to all with advance registration, with a livestream also available. Professor Alejandra Tomas Catala, Professor of Cell Biology, will reveal how new technologies let us observe how trillions of cells sense and respond to signals that regulate metabolism, and what this could mean for tackling diseases such as diabetes. Her research uses advanced molecular cell biology and multiomic strategies to uncover new ways of modulating receptor signalling in metabolic diseases such as obesity, diabetes, and MASLD.
