About

This is a talk marking the 550th anniversary of William Caxton setting up his printing press by Westminster Abbey, held in St Margaret's Church. Experts Matthew Payne, Keeper of the Muniments at Westminster Abbey, and historian Thomas Penn explore why Caxton settled there and why it proved the ideal environment for his business to flourish. They show how Caxton built a network of relationships stretching from his neighbours, round the Thames, to London and far beyond. Doors open at 6:00pm, the talk begins at 6:30pm and is followed by an audience Q&A.
