The Legend Of Keith Jarrett’s Köln Concert
The Garden Cinema, Parker Street 39-41, WC2B 5PQ London, Holborn
About
A documentary about Keith Jarrett's legendary 1975 concert in Cologne, whose recording became the best-selling solo jazz album ever made. Director Vincent Duceau retraces how obstacles including a problematic piano and an exhausted musician nearly caused the performance to collapse. Through investigation into the mysterious instrument and the fragmented memories of those involved, it shows how a concert expected to be disastrous became an iconic recording. The screening is followed by an online Q&A with the director.
