A Worthy Mirror: Alkemie Album Release Show

A Worthy Mirror is the album release show of the ensemble Alkemie, opening with a cocktail party and followed by a musical performance in the ballroom, with medieval garb encouraged. The project is a time-traveling conversation with the trobairitz, the women poet-composers of the troubadour tradition of 12th- and 13th-century Occitania, whose surviving texts range from witty and ironic to heartbreaking and erotic. The concerts feature Alkemie's commissions by eight women and non-binary composers moving between Medieval and contemporary practices, alongside "A Chantar," the only surviving musical trobairitz piece from the time.
