Almost Famous is a semi-autobiographical film by Cameron Crowe about a teenage rock journalist touring with the band Stillwater in the early 1970s. Drawing on Crowe's own years as a young writer with a byline in Rolling Stone, it stars Patrick Fugit as the fresh-faced writer, Kate Hudson as superfan 'Penny Lane,' and Philip Seymour Hoffman as critic Lester Bangs. It is a poignant, funny look back at his early career as a music journalist, devoted to the love of rock 'n' roll.
