About
American Ballet Theatre’s “The Dream” is a one-act classical ballet performed with live vocal accompaniment by the Young People’s Chorus of New York City. Choreographed by Sir Frederick Ashton and adapted from William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, it tells of fairies, mischievous spells, tangled romances, and reconciliation. Set to Felix Mendelssohn’s celebrated score, the work captures the humor, romance, and otherworldly beauty of Shakespeare’s beloved comedy. The performances bring together dance, orchestra, and young voices on the stage at Lincoln Center.
