About
Archiving Home: A Community of Practice is a culminating event that is part showcase, part workshop, and part happening, highlighting the work of Archiving Home participants and inviting dialogue with the community and other practitioners. It is a collaborative initiative between Centro, the Dominican Studies Institute, and the Haitian Studies Institute, which brought together archivists, cultural workers, and community memory practitioners working with diaspora- and ethnic studies-focused archives. Attendees can learn about non-traditional diasporic archival practices, connect with others interested in diasporic memory work, and engage with the emotional, spiritual, and personal side of archiving. Through shared meals, public workshops, and collective zine-making, participants explored technical and ethical challenges of bilingual materials and community-centered approaches.
