Aziz Hazara: Coming Home

An exhibition of objects the American military left behind in Afghanistan after its 2021 withdrawal, gathered by artist Aziz Hazara and shown for the first time. Working with local brokers and scrap dealers around Bagram Airfield, Hazara collected discarded items such as uniforms, electronics, kitchenware, and tents, and returns a portion of them to their place of origin. The show, curated by Sohrab Mohebbi, reads this debris as an archaeology of everyday life in a military outpost and of a twenty-year war experienced abroad mostly through images.
