CRISPR Guided Insights into the Biology of Archaea
Rockefeller University, York Avenue 1230, 10065 New York, Manhattan
About
A public seminar in Rockefeller University's Center for Studies in Physics and Biology series, held in the Carson Family Auditorium. Dipti Nayak, assistant professor at the University of California, Berkeley, presents her lab's work using a CRISPR genome-editing toolkit to study methanogenic archaea, microbes that produce methane and remain poorly understood. She will discuss the discovery of a new class of archaeal transcription factors, an ambiguous genetic code, and efforts to map the energy pathways and methane-producing enzyme of these organisms. Refreshments are served before the talk.
