About
Goodbye, Dragon Inn is a film screening at the Museum of the Moving Image. Directed by Tsai Ming-liang and made in 2003, it shows the last night of a crumbling Fu-Ho movie theater in Taipei playing Dragon Inn (1966), King Hu's seminal wuxia film. The kinetic soundtrack contrasts the theater's melancholy, slow-moving denizens, including a female box-office attendant with a limp, a cruising Japanese tourist, and two stars of Hu's film. Filled with expertly timed sight gags, it is Tsai's rueful backwards glance at the disappearance of the filmgoing culture of his youth—and one of the seminal films of the 21st century, with Lee Kang-sheng, Chen Shiang-chyi, and Kiyonobu Mitamura.

Critics
7.4Very good
Critics praise the film's melancholy atmosphere, meticulous long-take compositions, quiet humor and loving homage to dying cinema culture. They fault its extreme slowness, minimal dialogue and absence of coherent plot, which some find demanding or uneventful.
