Jazz & Gin: A Speakeasy Soirée (Spooky Jazz)
The Urbane Arts Club, Beverley Road 1016, 11218 Brooklyn, Brooklyn
About
"Spooky" JAZZ & GIN: A Speakeasy Soirée is an evening of hot jazz, swing bands, a swing DJ, burlesque, a free swing dance lesson and craft cocktails in a former 1920s Brooklyn speakeasy, now an art nouveau salon. It is presented by Prohibition Productions (Patrick Soluri) together with The Urbane Arts Club. The club's 1,200 sq ft ballroom has wooden floors, plus a lounge and gallery, and weather permitting there is an outdoor patio with cafe tables, a garden and a porch for dancing. During Prohibition, hooch was smuggled through a basement tunnel from the illicit distillery next door; today the club is a short walk from the Beverly Road and Church Avenue subway stations.
