Mamas Gun: soul from the UK, echoes of Marvin Gaye.

Mamas Gun is a five-piece band from the UK whose sound straddles blue eyed soul and the best of soul in the black music tradition, with echoes of Marvin Gaye, Bobby Caldwell, Bill Withers, Lewis Taylor and Sly Stone woven through their uplifting and heart rending music. The group was formed by Andy Platts in 2007, who is largely responsible for its songwriting and has also penned hits for Take That and James Morrison, as well as being one half of yacht rock duo Young Gun Silver Fox since 2015. The current line-up features keyboardist Dave Oliver, guitarist Terry Lewis, bassist Cameron Dawson and drummer Chris Boot, and the band has issued six albums to date, the latest called DIG!. They play two shows at the Blue Note Jazz Club in New York City.
