About

A seminar titled "Mechanical Feedback During Embryonic Self-Organization", part of the Center for Studies in Physics and Biology Seminars, open to the public with refreshments served beforehand. Jerome Gros, Ph.D., head of structure at the Pasteur Institute, will discuss early embryonic morphogenesis as a mechanical process, using the quail embryo as a model for amniote development. He will show how live imaging, quantitative image analysis, and minimally invasive mechanical probing assays can measure tissue material properties and active force generation, and how mechanics feeds back on cell behavior, signaling, and fate to drive embryonic self-organization.
