MISCHIEF NIGHT SCREENING

An outdoor screening of the silent film HÄXAN (1922), the last of the season, presented at the Alice Austen House. It is held by the Subterranean Cinema Club together with the Alice Austen House, with a live, semi-improvised noise score by Sludgemisers, the experimental collaboration of percussionist Nick Gutilla and multi-instrumentalist Jenno Snyder. Blending documentary and horror, the groundbreaking film explores the history of witchcraft, superstition, and the persecution of women, examining how fear and social power have shaped their treatment throughout history. Aura photography will be available, and visitors are invited to come in costume for a spooky night out.
