NORTHERN PATTERNS: LEARN TRADITIONAL ARCTIC BEADING DETAILS
Scandinavia House, Park Avenue 58, 10016, Manhattan
About
A hands-on workshop on traditional Northern beading, part of the NORTHERN PATTERNS series. It draws inspiration from master bone carver Inna Eilyuvna Iadne, whose sculptures and jewelry reflect the cultural traditions of the Indigenous peoples of Yamal. Participants learn one to three beadweaving techniques and create an original jewelry piece such as earrings, a bracelet, or a pendant, while gaining insight into the symbolism and cultural context of Northern decorative arts. The workshop aims to develop artistic taste and the skills to independently design meaningful handmade pieces.
