Sunday Platform: ‘Beware the Power of Prediction’ Video and Discussion (In-Person Only)

A free, in-person morning gathering of the Sunday Platform series, held in Room 507. Member Terry Perlin leads the group in watching the TED Talk 'Beware the Power of Prediction' by philosopher and TED Fellow Carissa Véliz, followed by a guided discussion. The talk traces the hidden power of prediction, from Roman emperors who banned prophets to AI algorithms making decisions about people's lives, arguing that predictions are attempts to grab power rather than knowledge. A community lunch follows, free for first-time guests and families in the Young Ethical Explorers Program.
