About
A jazz concert evening by drummer Tyshawn Sorey at the Village Vanguard, a small jazz club in the West Village. Sorey, a drummer, composer, and multi-instrumentalist born in 1980 in Newark, New Jersey, is regarded as one of the most inventive musicians of his generation and moves between jazz improvisation and contemporary classical composition. For these sets he plays with pianist Aaron Diehl and bassist Harish Raghavan. His music resists genre categories, drawing together jazz, experimental improvisation, and modern classical writing.
