Ach, Mom!

"Ach, Mom!" is a choreographed multicam staging for four actors at the Deutsches Theater. Behind the work is composer, multimedia artist and director Nico Sauer, whose winning project of the 2025/26 open call is presented as a world premiere. It begins in a living room like any sitcom and ends in delirium: techniques from musical composition are transferred onto the vocabulary of acting, so that narrative patterns arise through rhythmic layering, phase shifting and finely timed physical interaction. Across roughly 75 minutes without an interval, gestures are detached from their functions, voices hover between lip-sync and real speech, and the camera emancipates itself as a grotesque medium.
