About
The Berlin Fairy Tale Days are the world's largest fairy tale festival and take place in Berlin and Brandenburg. They were founded in 1989 by Horst-Dieter Klock on the occasion of the fall of the Berlin Wall under the motto "Fairy Tales Overcome Borders"; from 1999, Silke Fischer and Monika Panse led them into a mass movement. Under the motto "The World Comes to Berlin", they present a different culture or a global theme each November with around 800 events at 350 venues. In 2026 they take place for the 37th time, with libraries, bookshops, schools, concert and theatre houses, public administrations and embassies opening their doors, and the ceremonial award of the Golden Pea as the festival's highlight.
