About
Berlin Freedom Week is a citywide initiative for freedom and democracy that marks the anniversary of the fall of the Wall with guided tours, workshops, films, readings, discussions and events for children. It is an initiative of the Axel Springer Freedom Foundation, the Robert-Havemann-Gesellschaft, visitBerlin and the World Liberty Congress, held under the patronage of Berlin's Governing Mayor. The programme approaches freedom from different perspectives: current events in several countries, global protest movements, digital freedom and past understandings of freedom. Highlights include the Berlin Freedom Conference, the Ostfrauen*Salon at the Stasi headquarters, contemporary witness talks about escape assistance at the Berlin Wall, and the Stories of Freedom film series.
