Ein Talent fürs Morden
About
„Ein Talent fürs Morden“ is a crime thriller set in 1995, when celebrated crime writer Patricia Highsmith has withdrawn to her chalet in the Swiss Alps, surrounded only by books, cats and a beloved collection of antique weapons. The film is directed by Anton Corbijn and stars Helen Mirren, Alden Ehrenreich and Olivia Cooke. When young editor Edward Ridgeway arrives on behalf of her New York publisher to persuade her to write one last novel featuring her most famous character, conman and murderer Tom Ripley, she refuses – unless he helps her invent the perfect murder. His visit turns into a dangerous cat-and-mouse game in which both must wonder who is really pulling the strings.

Critics
Critics praise Helen Mirren's commanding, gleefully wicked lead performance and the sharp, tense duel with her co-star in Corbijn's punchy two-hander. Faults include uneven plotting: the play adaptation is not especially clever, and the middle section drags and loses momentum.
