Frühling, Sommer, Herbst, Winter ... und Frühling
Babylon, Rosa-Luxemburg-Straße 30, 10178 Berlin, Mitte
About
A small floating temple stands on a lake surrounded by mountains, where an elderly Buddhist monk lives with his young pupil. The film follows the growing boy in five chapters through the seasons and different stages of life, from childhood games to a confrontation with his own guilt. Even this secluded place offers no escape from cruelty, desire and jealousy, and the arrival of a young woman recovering from an illness sets the pupil's life in motion. It was directed by Kim Ki-duk and stars Oh Yeong-su, Kim Young-min and Kim Ki-duk.

Critics
8.1Very good
Critics praise the stunning visuals, serene contemplation, and fusion of cruelty with meditation. Occasional criticism targets the film's demonstrative, somewhat didactic tendencies.
