A service for the Day of Repentance and Prayer at the New Apostolic Church Berlin-Adlershof. It is hosted by the New Apostolic Church of North and East Germany; in Saxony, where the day is a public holiday, services there instead begin at 10 am. At its heart lies the Christian conviction that people, whatever their guilt, always have the chance to make a fresh start – which requires an honest look at one's own life, admitting one's mistakes and drawing consequences. Shortly before the church year ends, the day is thus seen as a wake-up call, a religious parallel to New Year's Eve: to turn around and dare a new beginning with God's help.
