Ausstellung: Maria Kaisto - Foliage

The vernissage opens the exhibition “Foliage” by Finnish artist Maria Kaisto at Galerie Pleiku. Kaisto lives and works in Turku and paints in oil on rigid surfaces, emphasising the texture of the paint and the brushstrokes. After the loss of her father, she has moved away from concrete housing estates towards more organic forms, marked by recurring emerald green hues and memories of her childhood in Swedish Lapland. Nature appears not only calming but also unsettling, while as a counterpoint she depicts her favourite subject: people gathered in nature at dusk as music plays.
