Monster Mia
About
“Monster Mia” is an animated children's film directed by Verena Fels. The lively outsider Mia is firmly convinced that monsters really exist, and her enthusiasm for them gets her expelled from school. At the spooky yet beautiful Finsterwald Academy she meets classmates who are actual monsters and has to use all kinds of tricks to pass herself off as a true monster. When she uncovers headmaster Van Vlad's sinister plan to turn all humans into monsters, it falls to her to save her friends and prove that sometimes the most unusual monsters are the greatest heroes.

Critics
Critics praise the charming, lightly spooky atmosphere, brisk pacing and distinctive animation. They fault the formulaic, familiar story that reuses well-known elements without renewing the genre.
