About

"The Anonymous Project by Lee Shulman – No Place Like Home" is an exhibition at Fotografiska Berlin built from anonymous amateur photographs. It comes from Lee Shulman, a Paris-based filmmaker and artist who has spent years gathering abandoned slides into one of the largest private archives of analog amateur photography in the world. For the show he has compressed around 12,000 of these images into an installation large enough to feel like a house you once lived in, including floor-to-ceiling, backlit "Totems" of layered photographs in a completely darkened room. The pictures were never meant for public view, and stripped of names, dates and locations they turn into universal stories about memory, family and love.
