About
A themed walking tour of Berlin's Scheunenviertel, starting in front of the Neue Synagoge. It asks about everyday life there, about synagogues and Jewish institutions in central Berlin, and above all about the pogrom of 5 November 1923, ten years before the Nazi dictatorship. During the inflation crisis, Jews from Eastern Europe were made scapegoats, and attacks on them, their shops and homes followed while the police long stood by. Organised by the Stiftung Neue Synagoge Berlin – Centrum Judaicum, the tour explains the pogrom's background and the defensive action by members of the Reichsbund jüdischer Frontsoldaten; registration is required.
