The Dramaturgy of Personhood in Social Cognition Experiments
Bard College, Niederschönhausen
About
It is an online talk (Zoom) on the dramaturgy of laboratory experiments on non-normative or 'other' minds in social cognition research. It draws a distinction between dramaturgies that rely on theater and those that take up experimental theater, a 20th-century movement that dramatizes its own conditions of production. The speaker argues that social cognition experiments can resist reinscribing harmful normativities by cultivating the methodologics of experimental theater. It is organized by Sasha Bergstrom-Katz and Michele Luchetti as part of the Performing Science and Medicine series; the speaker is Yelena Gluzman, an Assistant Professor at the University of Alberta in Canada.
