The Knife Attack - A documentary-research based theatre play (Faculty Colloquium)
Bard College, Niederschönhausen
About
As part of the Faculty Colloquium, Noam Brusilovsky and Maria Magdalena Emmerig present their theatre work “Der Messerangriff (The Knife Attack)” and share insights into their research and artistic process. The play is their third production at Stadttheater Klagenfurt dedicated to a sensitive local issue, following “Nicht Sehen” (winner of the 2022 Nestroy Special Prize) and “QUEERinthia” (2024). Taking the 2025 ISIS terror attack in Villach as its starting point, it explores terrorism, radicalization, and the enduring wounds such attacks inflict on the public sphere. Brusilovsky is a writer and director working in theatre and radio, while Emmerig is an artist, scenographer, and costume designer who merges classical scenography with immersive, participatory formats.
