About
"Versteckt & Verschwunden" (Hidden & Gone) is a roughly two-hour tour that for the first time connects two prisons in East Berlin where people were detained for different reasons during the GDR era. The offering comes from the Lernort Keibelstraße, and the tours are to form the basis for a permanent joint offering of the two sites from 2027. The tour starts at the former remand prison on Keibelstraße, whose cells, corridors and doors are preserved, and leads to the former women's prison on Barnimstraße, which no longer stands and whose history is now made accessible through an artistic audio walk by the artist Christoph Viscorsum. The focus is on detention, control and political persecution in the GDR, especially the experiences of politically persecuted women and the questions of what is worth remembering and what disappears; participation is free, and registration by email is required.
