Paths to Modern Civil Protection: conference on resilience.

The conference "Im Ernstfall resilient? – Wege zu einem zeitgemäßen Zivilschutz" deals with strengthening civil protection and the resilience of state and society. It is organised by the Evangelische Akademie Loccum, with the German County Association (Deutscher Landkreistag) represented in the programme by its deputy executive Dr. Klaus Ritgen. Discussions cover the protection of critical infrastructure, everyone's capacity for self-help, and the federal government's plan to strengthen civil and disaster protection with ten billion euros by 2029. Talks run under the Chatham House Rule, with forums on volunteering, media communication, a whole-society resilience strategy and civil protection in schools.
