The Kommunale Klimakonferenz 2026 is a multi-day in-person conference titled "Resilienz statt Krisenmodus: Wie Kommunen handlungsfähig bleiben". It is funded by the Nationale Klimaschutzinitiative, with the Deutsche Städtetag, the Deutsche Städte- und Gemeindebund and the Deutsche Landkreistag as cooperation partners. It explores how municipalities can combine climate protection, energy security, social justice and local value creation in order to become more resilient to future challenges. The programme includes keynotes, panel discussions and specialist forums, and on the first day the winners of the competition "Klimaaktive Kommune 2026" are announced and honoured.
