Conference on community organizing: democracy from below.

A professional conference on community organizing, which aims to bring democracy to life in neighborhoods, schools, communities and unions. It is hosted by FOCO, the umbrella association of Berlin's self-help contact points, in cooperation with the Landesarbeitsgemeinschaft Gemeinwesenarbeit und Soziale Stadtentwicklung Berlin. The occasion is the new Handbook of Community Organizing published in 2025, bringing together authors, volunteers and professionals from initiatives and associations, as well as funding bodies. It explores how challenges such as homelessness or disenchantment with democracy can be addressed through solidarity-based alliances from below and financed sustainably.
