Workshop on consciousness in early Buddhist texts.
Ancient Maps of Consciousness
About
An immersive in-person workshop exploring what early Buddhism reveals about consciousness, suffering and the nature of awakening. Led by Ann Mathie, who holds an MA in the Traditions of Yoga and Meditation from SOAS University and has practised meditation for some two decades, it combines in-depth teaching on early Buddhist texts with guided contemplative practice. Participants examine ideas such as dependent origination, the meditative states known as jhāna and what enlightenment means, alongside Western understandings of mind and self. Open to all, with no religious belief or previous experience of Buddhism required.
