About
A book talk and in-conversation event at which Lord Alf Dubs discusses his new memoir, "The Boy with the Knapsack – An Extraordinary Life, from the Kindertransport to the House of Lords", followed by a book signing. It is presented by the Irish Cultural Centre, whose honourable patron Lord Dubs is, and he will be interviewed by the award-winning journalist Dorothy Allen, a key member of the ICC's Irish Literature Programming team. His memoir tells of arriving in Britain as a child refugee on the Kindertransport, growing up in 1950s Manchester, serving as MP for Battersea, entering the House of Lords in 1994, and his lifelong campaigning for human rights and child refugees. The book, published by Bonnier Books Ltd, is also a first-hand account of Britain over the last eight decades and a reminder of the values of decency and humanity that unite us.
