About
Charlie and The Chocolate Factory is a stage musical based on Roald Dahl's beloved children's book, staged at the London Coliseum. The new production is directed by Nikolai Foster with a book by David Greig, and stars Michael Ball as the eccentric Willy Wonka, with songs from the 1971 film adaptation like Pure Imagination alongside an original score by Marc Shaiman and lyrics by Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman. Young Charlie Bucket wins a golden ticket to visit Wonka's world-famous chocolate factory and, alongside his Grandpa Joe and other lucky children, embarks on the adventure of a lifetime into a world where chocolate rivers flow, Oompa-Loompas sing, inventions defy imagination and every room holds a delicious surprise. Running 2hr 30 min including one interval, the wickedly funny and whimsically charming musical is recommended for families.
