About
An Israeli documentary filmmaker returns shortly after the massacre of 7 October 2023 to her childhood home in the Gaza Belt and films the burned-out kibbutz of Nir Oz. Over two years she travels along the fence that has sealed off the Gaza Strip since the mid-1990s, where tanks stand beside ploughing farmers and the bombing of Gaza is visible and audible. Through thoughtful voiceover and dialogue, including an epistolary exchange with her Paris-based friend Ariel Cypel, she seeks the truth about the relationship with Gaza, her own and that of Israelis at large. Anat Even's poetic and profound film, premiered at the Berlin Film Festival 2026, is about anger and loss, dehumanisation and powerlessness.
