About
This is a cinema screening of the film Donnie Darko. It was made by director Richard Kelly and stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Jena Malone and James Duval. In the story, set during the 1988 presidential election, teenager Donnie Darko sleepwalks out of his house one night and sees a giant, demonic-looking rabbit named Frank, who tells him the world will end in 28 days. When Donnie returns home, he finds a jet engine has crashed into his bedroom: is he living in a parallel universe, suffering from mental illness, or will the world really end?

Critics
7.7Very good
Critics praise the film's originality, eerie atmosphere, ambition and Gyllenhaal's performance, plus its 1980s nostalgia. Faults include an incoherent plot, uneven tone, sloppy writing and a weak, anticlimactic ending.
