About
Faris Ishaq performs JASAD, a solo project built around the Nay, a Middle Eastern flute, played together with a leg-mounted frame drum. Ishaq is a Palestinian Nay player and percussionist who reimagines the instrument through breath-led techniques and rhythms. He blends Palestinian Dabke dance and the Nay tradition of Tashbib with Arabic Maqam modes and jazz-inspired arrangements. For this performance he premieres a new duo format of JASAD with Belfast-based drummer and percussionist Conor McAuley.
