About

Hear it Live! is a free, drop-in series of performances and talks at the Horniman Museum, drawing on its musical instrument collection and often featuring its historical keyboard instruments. On 12 November it features Saied Silbak, a London-based Palestinian composer and oud player born in the lower Galilee, performing at Gallery Square. Trained in both classical piano and the oud, he blends Arabic, Turkish, Indian, jazz, and Western classical influences, and has contributed to projects including Ken Loach's film The Old Oak. The series is supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, which helped restore instruments including a 1668 Neapolitan virginals, an 1777 square piano, and an 1772 Kirckman harpsichord.
