Mystery Planes #15
Walthamstow Trades Hall, 17 Hoe Street (off Tower Hamlets Road), E17 4SB London
About
An afternoon gig at Walthamstow Trades Hall with the Montreal band Thee Retail Simps, whose scrappy sound mixes garage-rock and offbeat influences. The venue's listing imagines what it might sound like if the Velvet Underground had written 'Wooly Bully', or if Half Japanese and Hasil Adkins formed a Meters cover band. Support comes from Unmarry Me, featuring two members of Huggy Bear, and resident weirdos Midnight Mines open with their avant-garage clang. A tape collage DJ set from the Major Trauma Sound System rounds things off.
