Nadja

About
A 1994 horror-drama by Michael Almereyda, starring Elina Löwensohn, Jared Harris, Peter Fonda and David Lynch. It follows estranged vampire twins Nadja and Edgar as they reunite after their father's death at the hands of the flamboyantly unhinged Dr. Van Helsing. A moody, postmodern reimagining of the Dracula myth drawing on Dracula's Daughter and André Breton's surrealist novel Nadja, made on a low budget at David Lynch's invitation. Its high-contrast black-and-white cinematography blends with the hallucinatory grain of Pixelvision video.

Critics
6.0Good
Critics praise the striking black-and-white and Pixelvision imagery, the sultry lead performance, and witty deadpan writing. They fault a narrative that loses its way, pretentious montages, an annoying blurred look, and a second half weaker than the first.
