New River Improvisations: A Workshop with Seijiro Murayama

A two-evening workshop conceived as a single unit, based on improvisational practice. It is led by Seijiro Murayama, an improviser-percussionist born in 1957 in Japan who has released around fifty albums and co-authored the book Idioms and Idiots. The sessions use a simple yet effective method he has developed over the past 20 years from an outsider's perspective, as both a non-Westerner and a non-musician. Open to all levels, participants bring their instrument and a notebook, and Murayama improvises the process of the workshop itself.
