Preparing for Assessment Centres: Mock Exercise with Squire Patton Boggs

A mock law firm assessment centre where students can experience this stage of legal recruitment in a supportive, non-recruitment setting. Birkbeck hosts the session with the law firm Squire Patton Boggs, whose representatives join speakers including an associate, a trainee solicitor and a corporate engagement director. Participants take part in an interactive group exercise tackling a business-focused challenge, learn how candidates are evaluated, and gain insights on assessment centre performance and the skills that help candidates succeed. The session builds commercial awareness, teamwork, communication, leadership, problem-solving and presentation skills, useful for vacation scheme and training contract applications.
