About
Queer Recipes Archive, Volume 2: How to Crack an Egg is a performance that takes the Portuguese bifana, a traditional pork sandwich, as its starting point. Through live cooking and storytelling, it explores masculinity, reproduction and transmasculine experience, reimagining the dish by transforming its ingredients and form. It moves between the politics of gender, bodily consumption and the division between cooking as an obligation to nourish and cooking as an act of creative genius. Participants then rewrite the inherited recipe themselves, questioning what traditions preserve, what they exclude and what else they might become.
